Life is too short to not think freely
gray and brown mountain

I Look Back (A Poem)

I didn’t know it was possible to lose the strength

which I had worked so hard to earn.

I labored for so long to reach this peak,

But instead of being met with a wonderous view,

I just see another range that remains to be climbed.

I look back as I cling to the side of my mountain.

With each slope I see, I am reminded of perils I endured.

Of every slip, fall, and setback.

I look upward.

Am I strong enough to continue?

Will I ever reach the final summit?

I look back.

I see how far I’ve come,

and now I know I must go on.
