One time, during my devotions, I was writing down some notes from a passage of scripture in Deuteronomy (see my post about it here). I was feeling very inspired by the word, so after I finished, I sat down at my desk to write a post about the time that I had just spent with Jesus. As I was reviewing my notes, I found that I accidentally wrote a poem! I had always wanted to write poetry, but the words never seemed to come very easily. But this day, they flowed from my brain like a river flows into the ocean. Fast and free.
I love it when the Holy Spirit prompts my journaling sessions, because I can look back and see how the Lord was at work in my life on a particular day. It is even better when the Holy Spirit speaks through art, because I think it makes His words that much more impacting.
Below is a photo of a page from my journal on that particular day:

I know that this poem is far from perfect, but I still wanted to share it. I hope it at least brightens up your day!
Await the Rain
Wheat cannot be harvested prematurely.
If it were, all your labor would be in vain.
No, first you must labor diligently,
Then, simply await the rain.
For the rain brings life to the seeds which you sow.
It raises them up, causes them to grow.
But if you harvest before the rain,
You cannot hope to compensate for all your toil and pain.
No, you must be patient to receive those droplets of life,
Knowing that your Father sees you in your strife.
He knows when your seeds are ready to sprout,
So rest in His ability to relieve you of your drought.
He delights in flourishing the work you do for Him.
But immediacy is not always the best way to His end.
So take heart that your seeds will not underground remain.
Soon they shall burst forth! So long as you await the rain.
